Knowledge Engineering for the AI-Native Company
Knowledge sidekick for business · LLMs · personal assistants · AEO

Your company is the primary system. Knowledge is the layer that makes it dependable.

Knowledge Sidekick helps AI-native business CIOs and founders evaluate, build, and improve the knowledge layer behind agentic systems — at inception, when the work is proactive, and in production, when the problems are already showing up. We also work as a sidekick for LLMs, for personal assistants, and for agent engine optimization.

What Knowledge Sidekick is

Knowledge Sidekick is a practical knowledge layer for organizations building or using Agentic AI, LLMs, and personal assistants. The core idea is simple: most failures in these systems are not model failures — they are knowledge failures. The data is stale, the representation is weak, the extraction is incomplete, the updates lag, and the deprecation never happens.

What we do is help you treat knowledge as a first-class layer: how you create it, how you represent it, how you extract it from the places it actually lives, how you keep it current, how you deprecate what is no longer true, and how you evaluate whether your knowledge maturity is good enough for the systems you are building.

Who this is for

This site is written for two moments in a company's AI journey:

  • Inception, proactive. You are planning an agentic system, an LLM-based product, or a personal assistant, and you want the knowledge layer designed before it becomes the thing that fails in production.
  • Production, reactive. The system is live, and you are now discovering that the hard part is not the model but the knowledge — stale content, weak formats, missing updates, no deprecation, poor grounding.

Readers tend to be AI-native business CIOs and founders who are funding or directing this work, often with an engineering leader or architect executing it. The site is written so both can read it: business-case enough for the person signing off, technical enough for the person building.

Why knowledge, why now

Agentic systems act on what they know. That makes knowledge failures more expensive than they were in chatbot-era AI.

A chatbot can be wrong in a sentence. An agent can be wrong in a decision, an API call, a record change, or a plan that keeps going because nothing told it to stop. The knowledge layer is what tells the system what is true, what is current, what is owned, and what it is allowed to use.

The reason this matters now is that agentic systems are being put into real workflows — enterprise operations, personal assistants that see email and calendar and habits, LLM-based products that act on behalf of users or businesses. In all of these, the knowledge layer is the part that decays, scatters, and carries permissions whether you design for it or not.

This site is the practical side of that argument. It is a working vocabulary and a set of business-facing practice areas: applications, use cases, case studies, company news, knowledge lifecycle, knowledge formats, knowledge maturity, extraction, updates, deprecation, token savings, grounding, memory for personal assistants, AEO, and the open-source / open-standards layer behind it.

Where Knowledge Sidekick shows up

Business

Sidekick to your primary business

Helping companies evaluate knowledge maturity and improve the full lifecycle — creation, representation, extraction, updates, deprecation — so agentic systems and LLM products are built on dependable knowledge rather than whatever is easy to scrape.

LLMs

Sidekick for LLMs

Two related but separate goals: token savings — spending less on moving and re-reading the wrong knowledge — and grounding — tying what the system says or does to knowledge it can point to, so it is more dependable and more auditable.

Personal assistants

Sidekick for personal assistants

The knowledge layer for assistants that see email, calendar, messages, and habits: memory across short, medium, and long term, plus privacy, control, and compliance under regimes such as the DPDP Act in India and the GDPR in the EU.

Cross-cutting

Sidekick across all three

AEO / Agent Engine Optimization makes the knowledge layer discoverable and usable by agent engines — llms.txt, a clean agent interface, and answer-engine readiness. It sits across the other three rather than beside them: the work is making the knowledge they depend on findable, understandable, and usable by the engines that act on it.

Applications, case studies, and company news

Business readers usually want three things: where this applies, what it looks like in practice, and what companies are doing now. This site is written to cover that ground. It points to use cases, case studies, and current company activity where knowledge-first systems are being used, adopted, or discussed.

The practical lens matters. A company does not buy a theory of knowledge. It needs to know whether the approach helps with search, grounding, assistants, compliance, workflow automation, or something else it can actually deploy.

What we offer

Knowledge Sidekick offers a set of engagements and practice areas. The full list is under Offering; the core pieces are:

Evaluate

Knowledge maturity evaluation

Where a company stands today on knowledge creation, representation, extraction, updates, deprecation, and overall maturity — usually the first engagement, especially at inception.

Lifecycle

Knowledge lifecycle

The subject itself: how knowledge is created, represented, extracted, updated, and deprecated. The commercial work often starts here and turns into a lifecycle practice.

Formats

Knowledge formats

Open representations and formats for knowledge — the practical side of making knowledge machine-readable, exchangeable, and maintainable. This is also the bridge to the open-source / open-standards work at knowledgesidekick.org.

Plus Training, Knowledge audits & benchmarks, Advisory, and AEO.

About

Knowledge Sidekick is a practical knowledge layer for organizations building or using Agentic AI, LLMs, and personal assistants. It is not a product landing page. The goal is to help leaders and engineers reason clearly about knowledge before they spend money or build something brittle.

The founder is Janardan Revuru. He is an engineering leader with experience building enterprise software for the management of servers, storage and networking gear. He has led AI adoption from AI-assisted coding through to Agentic AI development, and has driven transformations such as waterfall to agile and traditional SDLC to Agentic harness driven development. Background relevant to this topic: an M.Tech in Data Science from BITS Pilani (2024), a PhD in progress on communication in multi-agent systems (expected around 2028), three patents, and experience building and scaling global teams. He runs the Data Science and AI community DARLing Meetup.
